Biography

Tyreana "Ty" Handley is a dance artist and educator who uses movement to build connections, grow, and express creativity. At an early age, Tyreana found her love for dance and was drawn to its ability to bring people together, build character, and foster creative expression.

Tyreana started out as a self-taught choreographer, learning from social media and refining her skills through classes at Lancaster Middle School. She has trained under directors and dancers from Dallas Black Dance Theatre, further developing her artistry, technique, and performance versatility. Her experience as a majorette and drill team performer informs her teaching and choreography, which focus on precision, stage presence, and a strong connection with the audience.

She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Prairie View A&M University. While at Prairie View, she danced with the Black Foxes collegiate team and became captain in her final year. With the Black Foxes, she performed at major events, including the Houston Rockets' halftime show, and danced as a backup for Paul Wall at the Houston Texans' halftime show.

Tyreana is currently working toward her Master of Fine Arts in Dance at Texas Woman’s University. She continues to grow as a dance artist through her choreography and teaching. Tyreana has presented work at the Texas Dance Educators Association and taught masterclasses at national dance conferences, including the American College Dance Association. She gives back to the dance community by conducting workshops, guest-teaching, and spreading the majorette tradition.
