Dance is patience. I teach so students feel at least 1% stronger than when they arrived, and a little more confident in themselves and their ability to grow. I teach from the conviction that artistic development, like so much else, depends on continued involvement, discipline, and the willingness to be a work in progress. I prioritize structure as a framework that allows dancers to take themselves and their craft seriously. Through this process, students begin to understand their relationship to their artistry, their work ethic, and their responsibilities within a community. I teach so that the patience goes beyond the studio, forming the way dancers flow in their art and ultimately in life.
